Daterra Viticultores is a winery located in Manzaneda, Ourense. This is the new project of Laura Lorenzo (who previously worked at Dominio do Bibei) and Álvaro Domínguez. They have a total of 4.5 hectares, spread across various villages and varying in size, from small plots of 400 m² to one of 2,500 m². Their viticulture could be described as heroic, as the vines are planted on terraces or steep slopes, and the roads between them are so narrow and steep that all work is done by hand and with great difficulty. The result is wines made with passion, patience, and love, wines with an Atlantic profile and plenty of personality.
VINIFICATION
Red wine made with Juan García, Mouratón and Negreda from vineyards in Fermoselle (Zamora), whose soils are granite. Partial de-stemming and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 11 months in French oak and chestnut tub. Bottled without clarifying or filtering. Adverse weather conditions and mushroom proliferation make 2018 a year of low harvest.
TASTING NOTE
The Daterra Camino de la Frontera is an elegant red wine with a touch of rustic elegance, characterized by floral notes and aromas of toasted oak, along with soft tannins and brilliant acidity. Tasting notes reveal a complex bouquet with hints of red berries, lemon, and spice. The wine is known for its freshness, minerality, and invigorating, long finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Pairs well with grilled meats in general, such as steak and burgers, roasted lamb, particularly herb-crusted preparations, and classic meatballs.
