Born from an ambitious family project to preserve the region’s centuries-old wine heritage and traditions, Bodega Cerrón has established itself as one of the most exciting and distinctive estates in southeastern Spain. Praised by Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World, as one of Spain’s greatest, it stands as a true revelation.
VINIFICATION
At nearly 1,000 meters of altitude on Jumilla’s limestone soils, Monastrell here reaches a remarkable purity of expression. From 70-year-old pre-phylloxera vines and aged in large foudres, the wine impresses with its intensity, freshness, and natural elegance. Hand harvested grapes. Spontaneous fermentation with 40% whole grapes. Gentle pressing and malolactic fermentation in casks. Aged in casks for 10 to 12 months.
TASTING NOTE
A superb nose, blending black and red fruits, with silky, powdery tannins, infused with sap, full of energy and richness, enhanced with spices, thyme, and bay leaf. Juicy and fruity with some refreshing sensation in the mouth, carried by a chalky and salty structure that extends the finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Pairs well with red meats, game, and dishes with strong sauces. Its Mediterranean character, firm tannins, and notes of black fruits and spices make it an ideal accompaniment to grilled meats, such as Chateaubriand, or lamb and venison dishes.
