Suertes del Marqués La Solana is a red wine from Valle de la Orotova prepared by the Suertes del Marqués winery. This winery is located in Tenerife.
VINIFICATION
Suertes del Marqués La Solana is a varietal Listán Negro (local variety). The grapes come from old vines over 100 years old situated at an altitude of between 400 and 520 metres, orientated northeast. The cultivation of the vineyards is done using a unique multi corded system. The vines grow on poor soils formed on volcanic rock, which contribute to the wine’s minerality and fruitiness. To prepare Suertes del Marqués La Solana, the grapes are placed in small open unusuallu curved concrete vats for a cold maceration. After maceration at controlled temperatures with manual movements, fermentation occurs in French oak barrels (80% from Allier, 10% from Vosges and 10% from Centres) of 500 litres. In the same barrels, the wine is aged for 10-12 months.
TASTING NOTE
Suertes del Marqués La Solana 2017 is a smooth red wine with fruity aromas, notes of wet earth and hints of sweet spices and tobacco. On the palate it is pleasant, juicy and easy to drink. A wine with refreshing acidity over a mineral background and a tasty and fruity finish.
